The house provides a sustainable and sensitive solution to the provision of a family home on what is a long, narrow and sloping site situated in a local scenic area which is well used by the local community asa walking route. Split into three levels the accommodation has been organised with entrance and guest facilities to the top of the site, the kitchen, living and dining has been placed in the central level overlooking the garden with the sleeping accommodation being located at the southern end of the site within its own block which has been nestled down into the sites topography.
Making the best use of the orientation, the accommodation is laid out to take advantage of the site orientation. As the building turns to face from south-east to the west, the elevation begins to open to allow for the maximum utilisation of natural light and solar heat gains into all the main living areas which open out onto a generous external patio area.
