Nuritas Ltd. are an Irish Biotech company, they have previously been co-located in Dublin 2 and on the UCD campus in Belfield. The purpose of this development is to combine their current activities and staff in one location.
This business is a unique combination of life sciences, artificial intelligence and natural ingredients. They utilise the synergy between these elements to make life–changing discoveries. The design of the building was tasked with fostering and enhancing the relationship between these three very different groups, the successful integration of these different fields is key to the business success. The client's intention is that the building would be a home away from home for employees and somewhere very desirable to work. The company is currently undergoing a large scale staff expansion programme in a very competitive market place.
The main social hub of Joshua Dawson house is located on the 4th floor, its functional form is defined by the creation of the 3 ‘gathering spaces’; a Town Square – informal gathering space for eating, meeting and a coming-together hub for the company community, a Town Hall – formal gathering space for structured meetings and board meetings, a Town Garden –informal recreational gathering space for staff enjoyment, staff interaction and interaction with the natural environment. The links between, through and around these ‘gathering spaces’ enable the incidental interactions, which are so vital to the creation of a vibrant and symbiotic community.
The found materials and fabric of the building were utilised wherever possible, including; the reconditioning of the existing granite and raised access floors, the reuse of existing chilled beam ceilings to the office areas, the exposing and shot blasting of the existing concrete core walls. These existing materials are complimented with a palette of new materials to create a bespoke environment for the Nuritas staff.
